Watching all the examples in class for the daydream project really gave me a lot to think about. In the beginning, I was thinking of creating something trippy, with a deeper meaning for people to really contemplate. With that in mind I brought this up to my friends in order to see what ideas we could come up with. During that very long, fun conversation I realized I wanted to change the direction I am going in. I have decided to keep it lighthearted and fun so that I can really enjoy the process. As great as the idea sounds to create something meaningful, that idea is daunting to me. The one thing I really took to heart from lecture, that if I wanted to do good on this project, I needed to have with it. So, with a completely fresh slate I started brainstorming new ideas. I know that whatever my story line is going to be, I want the animation part to include a video game. The “choose your character” sound that is used in the video game Smash Bros was a big part of my childhood. It also blew up on Tik Tok a couple of years ago, so everyone would know where it came from. I find that including things that is known by everyone is always more fun than niche ideas and for me the “choose your character” sound was just that. I will be taking inspiration from video games like “Super Smash Bros”, “Street Fighter”, “Mortal Combat”, and any other “fighting” video game I played growing up. I am thinking it would be cool to make up a video game to keep that sense of originality, instead of inserting new characters in an already existing video game. The most important thing I want to hold on to while doing this project is having fun and enjoying the process since this was initially very intimidating to me.
